Who we are

The Disinformation Resilience Network is an initiative that connects experts and volunteers dedicated to protecting the integrity of our democracy against the threat of international propaganda and disinformation from authoritarian states, militants, and their domestic allies.

This non-partisan project brings together individuals from diverse fields, including political science, security, journalism, diplomacy, cybersecurity, law, and history.

What We Do

The Disinformation Resilience Network (DRN) tackles foreign interference, disinformation, and propaganda through expert meetings, raising awareness, media relations, archiving, and public events. DRN monitors, analyzes, archives, and debunks disinformation and propaganda. Members of the network exchange and analyze information collaboratively and provide the latest analysis of the situation to the media and the public.

Why We Need It

Democracy is under attack! Disinformation and propaganda by foreign and domestic actors are significant and underestimated threats. Freedom of speech, a core strength of any genuine democracy, is exploited by aggressive international actors and their domestic collaborators. Anti-democratic sentiments, support for radical movements and authoritarian regimes, and "democracy fatigue" are becoming more common in mainstream discourse. So-called "agents of influence" and "useful idiots" on the domestic level amplify this destructive narrative on a daily basis, often unnoticed, not only on social media.

Subtle, below-the-line narratives in favor of authoritarian regimes often go unnoticed. The Russian Federation and its authoritarian allies play a significant role in this campaign against democratic countries around the world. Radicals from the political fringes, populists, and militants with various ideological backgrounds play an additional role in challenging democratic values, stability, the rule of law, and human rights.
